Thomas Merton’s Challenge to a Fragmented World

A 6-Part class by John Provost, presented by the Adult Life Enrichment committee of UUCMP.

Thomas Merton and Dalai Lama
In this class we will study the life and work of the Trappist monk and contemplative mystic Thomas Merton. We will explore his message in the light of the issues of a world that is struggling to find balance amidst social, religious, economic and ecological disaster. Merton was able to write and speak from a place of deep wisdom. It is this wisdom voice we need to include at the table of discussion and dialogue if we are to find a way to not simply make sense of our own lives, but a way to embrace hope and progress in a world where so many seem to feel powerless and thus hopeless.

At the UU Church of the Monterey Peninsula. 490 Aguajito Road, Carmel CA 93923.
April 13, 20, 27 and May 4, 11 and 18, 2012 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
