We reach out to the Community through programs of the congregation. And from time to time we share volunteer opportunities sent to us by other agencies.

I-HELP

I-HELP is the Interfaith Homeless Emergency Lodging Program, which provides dinner and overnight housing for up to 30 homeless men per night in congregations on the Peninsula and in Carmel Valley. UUCMP’s Pastor Emeritus Fred Keip and member Lorita Fisher were founders of this program, and we’ve participated proudly ever since—over 21 years!

We gather at UUCMP at 4 p.m. on second and fifth Sundays every month to prepare a meal and prepare to welcome the men as guests for the night in the sanctuary of our church. Those under 18 are welcome to come with a chaperone to prepare food and share the meal.

SIGN-UP on the bulletin board for the current month.

It is a joyful ministry, with opportunities to get to know the men. Many of them are seeking a spiritual path and enjoy sharing their thoughts and questions in the safe space UUCMP offer
