Beliefs

Our Seven Principles

All member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association affirm and promote:

• The inherent worth and dignity of every person;

• Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;

• Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;

• A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;

• The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;

• The goal of world community with peace, liberty and justice for all;

• Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

Our Congregational Affirmation

The Unitarian Universalist Church of the Monterey Peninsula is:

• A spiritual home which offers openness and variety in worship and where all may freely seek and share their own sense of meaning and belonging in the universe;

• A welcoming community which celebrates diversity, promotes honesty and love, and encourages participation;

• A caring congregation ready to accept and connect, grieve and rejoice, respond and support;

• An extended family in which everyone, from the youngest to eldest, is treasured as a full, gifted human being;

• An educational forum which honors children as its center and values learning as a shared, life-long process;

• An active presence within the larger community which encourages a more loving, just and healthy world;

• A gathering place whose natural and aesthetic setting evokes the interdependent web of all existence and provides a continuing source of inspiration, renewal and peace.
