Third Thursday Potluck Gatherings On the Third Thursday of each month, our community opens its doors to welcome members, friends, and visitors for an evening of shared food (5:30-6:40), a short vespers service (mostly singing/chanting—6:40-7:00) and community building (7:00 to 9:00). Our community time involves chances to - join in a Welcome to the UUCMP conversation
- join a discussion about our Vespers theme (To What Ideal are we True?)
- play some games for all ages
- or sing with the choir
So grab your favorite potluck dish and come on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. to gather with friends, meet new people, and share in the fun!!
T'ai Chi Chih - “Joy Through Movement”
T’ai Chi Chih consists of 19 movements and one pose intended to generate, circulate, and balance the body’s life energy, which the Chinese call Chi. It is a modern movement form with roots in the Qi Gong tradition. Young and old have been doing slow, graceful, moving meditations like these for over 2000 years for their mental and physical health benefits.
A goal of this class is to develop the ability to move through the T’ai Chi Chih forms with a focused awareness and with minimal physical effort. This takes practice, but dedicated T’ai Chi Chih students have reported improvements in balance, flexibility, strength, plus a deeper sense of well-being.
Wednesdays, 5:30-6:30 p.m. at UUCMP - Instructor: Jim Eagle
Come together for weekly spiritual practice sessions. We gather in the foyer of the church on Wednesday mornings at 8 a.m. for walking and sitting meditation, with journaling after each meditation. Experiment with having your practice supported by the practice of others. We are finished by 9 a.m. All are welcome. Wednesdays, 8 - 9 a.m. UUCMP Front Lobby
This is an ongoing group for women of retirement age and others who are free in the afternoon, as a way of building friendships. The group meets two afternoons each month, on the second and fourth Thursdays, 2-4 p.m. on the Sun Deck, with wide-ranging programs about books, travel, personal enthusiasms, and much more. All women are welcome.
Interweave
Interweave is a social group for gay, lesbian, bi, transgender, questioning people and their straight allies who meet on the Fourth Saturday evening each month for a potluck dinner and board games.
